It's 1.30 am, My alarm is set for 6am, I've got a cold and I'm starting a new job today after 3 months unemployed.
I've got no real nerves about the job. In fact is should be quite easy to live up to their requirements.
So WHY CAN'T I SLEEP?????

Yes, but will I look like 'trigger' on my first day.
Even if I do, I guess the 2nd day will be OK....
Just rather It wasn't happening.

Could be to do with sleep patterns. If you've been unemployed, have you been going to bed particularly late, messing your body clock up? Don't think you need to be "nervous" for your body/mind to be alert + preparing for the day ahead, either, making it difficult to sleep the night before a new job.

Personally, I take insomnia as a good thing; it allows me to do one job 9-5, and another full time job 6-2.

In all seriousness, I'd suggest downing a couple of glasses of scotch/brandy. Not so many you'll reek of it tomorrow, but just enough to knock you out tonight. A double dose of Vick's Medinite (sp?) usually does the trick, too...

Obviously, now you are thinking about insomnia, it only makes it worse.

I went through a period of a few weeks last year where I just couldn't get to sleep, the more I thought about it, the more worked up I got before going to bed, worrying about not getting any sleep...

Never failed to sleep when I was up in the wild north, but that was due to hotel living with like-minded souls and expense accounts

My sleep patterns weren't really much different.

Got to sleep around 3o/c, Awake at 5 for 10 mins then nearly slept thro the alarm.
Reasonable day, I managed to hide my lightning intellect behind the 'cold'.

I guess it could have been worse, I could have had a great nights sleep but woken up in telford......

Cheers

I had insomnia for about 2 years.

Was diagnosed as General Anxiety Disorder and 6 months of anti-depressents sorted me out nicely.

If not then the doctor gave my a hypnotic called Zopiclone in the meantime. They prescribe it for people with wierdo sleep cycles and for jetlag as well.

Sunday night slept for a few moments with really wierd dreams.

Last night I finished work at 6 went to the gym and destroyed a few things then went home and just did loads of jobs around the house untill I just could not keep my eyes open. About 12ish. Slept like a baby, girlfriend had to wake me up to go to work.

I think I will do the same tonight. Regular exercies seems to help me and not eating late.
