IIRC correctly, this sort of exercise goes on all the time.
I think it was earlier this year that a passenger on El Al got home to find a pistol (deactivated) in his baggage, that Israeli security forces had planted, to see if their baggage security would find it.
Obviously not. And their security is meant to be the best in the world. Makes you think.

As someone who works alongside 'security' at a major airport I can report that

Security is a smoke and mirrors con-job that will only catch the rank amateur and is mainly there to reassure the paying public that everything is hunky-dory.
