After watching Most Haunted during the week on Living TV I was just wondering if any PHers have seen a ghost or something that they think is a ghost, or something that they can't explain.
It would be good to hear some stories on here.

I used to live in an old pub which had a few spooky goings on.
I saw a man dressed in a white suit going into the toiliets there out of the corner of my eye when I asked Dad who it was he went and had a look and there was no-one there.
I also lost a fiver upstairs (very important when you are 14!) for about 2 days, it was found downstairs exactly below where I left it
Mums room was always cold and spooky she woke up one night feeling paralysed like she couldnt move, she said it wasnt a dream.
Cant say Ive ever seen something that I knew at the time- thats a ghost

I also used to live in an old cottage in Cornwall, A few things happened there in the space of a weekend. The light turned on by itself and the dog ready to go out for a walk, lead on, I went upstairs to get my gloves when I come back down the lead was off. I cant explain that.

Yeah, that's sleep paralysis, I get that, can be quite frightening.

All ghosts look like this

and all aliens look like this (since 1976 anyway)

These things have everything to do with popular culture and very little to do with anything else.

Well strictly speaking I was not 100% convinced, until my dad told me recently that when his mother died, about 12 hours later she rang him up!! Basically the phone rang, it was his mum, using a nickname that only she and he knew and basically saying dont worry, she was having a good time!

Explain that one!

I am convinced they dont exist. some people just find a reason for something they cant explain.

Working in a factory one night a pile folders fell off the table next to me.
I bent over and picked them up. It happened again. I picked them up agin but was puzzled as to why with no one around so I inspected them. Thats when I found the fine fishing wire attached.

I traced it to the bloke who was hiding he said why havnt you jumped and ran off? I then watched him do it to someone else. this person was almost in tears she ran streight to the toilets and then told everyone who would listen that there were poltergeists

Well I hope they don't exist, or if they do, they benevolent, because I'm in the process of moving to a cottage which was build in 1798, was once a Coaching Inn and also a pub. People are bound to have died in there! *shivers*

IMO ghosts are like a 'recording' taken by a place. I'm sure in hundreds of years time when we figure out how time works we'll find out that non-linear time streams can 'interfere' with ours, but it's all speculation until then.

There have been a few incidents. Firstly, walking home from school one day, I passed a row of old Victorian houses. Sitting outside one of them on a rocking chair was an old woman in a shawl with a glazed, 'old photo' expression on her face. She just faded away. Scared me so much I ran down the rest of the street.

Second one, millenium NYE party (wasn't drinking, was only 16), being held by some old friends in a very old (1700s) house. They'd moved all their paintings into another room for safety, but I thought I'd take a look nonetheless. There was a roaring fire in the grate, but as I walked around looking at the paintings, I felt like the room was full of atmosphere, like I was surrounded by a big crowd, and as I walked around I felt a chilling coldness was moving through me from time to time.

Third one, in York last year. walked past a pub called the Golden Fleece, supposedly the most haunted pub in Britain. There was a dull light coming from one of the upstairs bedrooms, and what looked like a woman in Tudor dress standing looking out. Disappeared when I looked again.

My parents have a few as well.

I saw a ghost when I was a little boy we were one a visit to an old Workhouse.

It was a little girl in Victorian Dress and she was crying and said her mother had died.

A little ghost tale.

Baldrick: Yeah, well, when I was even littler, see, we used to live in this haunted hovel. Every night, my family were troubled by a visitation from this disgusting ghoul. It was terrible. First there was this unholy smell, then this tiny, clammy, hairy creature would materialise in the bed between them. Fortunately, I could never see it, myself.
Blackadder: Yes... Tell me, Baldrick: when you left home, did this repulsive entity mysteriously disappear?
Baldrick: That very day...
Blackadder: I think then that the mystery is solved.

The End.

I've seen a being from another dimension - but I don't consider that a ghostly apparition.
