...... and has it ever been confusing? Lots of people like me have just their own name, trunkated, which is fair enough. But some I've seen, I've had to look at twice.

I understand PWIG now, but when I see a post from cptsideways, my brain says 'Carpet sideways' instead of 'Captain sideways'. I've also chatted to williamp, and for some reason I translated that as 'Willi-amp' - to rhyme with milli-amp, instead of the clearly more sane William P.

Am I Wen Dyg?

My details are deliberately obscure so that my employees don't find out that I spend most of my time at work surfing the net!

.. after some confusion over names/faces at work, new badges were being made. When my turn came to enter names, I said "Just Dave, thanks", assuming that the note-taker would enter things correctly

2 weeks later the new badges arrive.

Yup, you guessed it, "Just Dave" in glossy plastic for all the world to see.

It lasted a week before the boss saw it and made me exchange it.

Sorta stuck after that. I like it.

Howling when he's hungry at 3am and getting immediate doting attention from Mrs Sparky, shitting in the bath with apparent impunity when it's too cold to go outside, going missing for days at at a time and coming home to the prodigal's welcome, sleeping for up to 20 hours a day without being disturbed and having the abitity to lick his own genitalia gives my cat a lifestyle I envy. So I've borrowed his name in the hope that by doing so I may share some of his good fortune.

It's been my nickname for years - more people call me 'Fatboy' than 'Grant'. Actually, come to think of it, back home the only person who calls me by my real name is my mum

I can't help it, but the German meaning of the prefix vix can only be translated to vank. Sorry, that I didn't tell you before

We had some work to be done in Poland and as I love the place I kept volunteering to go back, as a result my mates decided that my real name (Joseph Swindell) should be changed to "Comrade Joachim Swindorski". It stuck and some people still call me Swindorski as a matter of course!

Oh yes, and the 46, I wanted to put a number on the doors of my mini and I live at number 4 and 6 is my "lucky" number. Thought I'd stick it on my name to make the car/person link easier!

Tough one really. I think my parents had a fair influence.

It's been my nickname since I was about 10, as I was eating Monster Munch in class, and my teacher called me it.

No one who knows me uses my real name.

I used to be WMH V70, which was pretty pants.

It was Streaky who suggested "Dibble", for which I am eternally grateful.
