How big is 40,000 square metres

an old friend of mine was recently left this amount of land in a 'will' - so i wondered for comparison, whats equivalent to that land size - a football field?

Its roughly fourty thousand square metres..

Yes about 10 acres. 10 sq ft is roughly 1 sq m (actually 10.765 sq ft in 1 sq m), so 40,000 sq m is approximatly 400,000 sq ft.

40,000 sq ft is roughly 1 acre, so ists about 10 acres or so. Much more impressive if its a warehouse that big.

Ah..i didn't know a football field was that big! I figured it would be about 80 yds x 40yds

Its 4 hectares so lets say hypothetically you could get planning for residential on all of it you are talking 120-160 houses (at a density of around 30-40/hectare).

40,000 sq.m is also equivalent to around 4 B&Q Warehouses (they are normally around 10,000 sq.m).
