Right, the Wife has been tasked with finding a good restaurant for her works do (it makes a nice change from Tatton Hall), so I thought I would throw up the question to the font of all knowledge.

It must be open during the day on a Saturday (strange to have to point that out but they do keep very odd times in Barcelona) and be reasonably central although any good ones down at the marina would be considered.

Any ideas?

Ta!

Without a shadow of a doubt, I would heartily recommend Botafumeiro - a fantastic fish restaurant.

See here for more info/reviews/links.

Avoid the Barcelona Hilton or go there if you enjoy comedy service...

Los Coracoles (sp?). I think it means 'snails'.

Quite close to the Gaudi Catherdral in the Gothic Quarter and easy to walk straight past. Great atmosphere and food. Visited by many celebs and Spanish royalty. Def worth a visit.

I second that recommendation. It does mean snails. Excellent tapas. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to the seating area.

We went to Pla, which is a superb but small restaurant - one of the best meals I've ever had. Sorbet with lashings of vodka....

Its located between the port and Las Ramblas.

Oh, I'm not the only one. They charged my card for £3650 (in Euro) for 2 nights instead of £365. When I pointed out the mistake, they refunded the same amount. Fair enough, until a month later, checked my bill and there was about £120 currency differnce against me. Rang them up - would refuse to understand my problem or its importance, and would not make up the difference (not our problem!)

I had exactly this problem too!
Ring your card company/bank and explain, they'll send you a form which you have to fill in and send in a covering letter explaining the situation, from there on they will handle it all for you and your money will just appear back in your account

Only downside is it can take up to a month!

I thought 4 Cats was terrible
Food too rich (not £) for my tastes.

There is a Thai - I think it's called Thai Gardens - which was good.
Also try a polynesian bar called Kahiki.

For a more 'laid back' atmosphere try the Hard Rock Cafe, top of the Ramblas, believe they have function room for hire. Great quality food and my G/F loved the cocktails.... rather too much unfortunately!!!!!
