Looking for a bit of advice ,

I am in the process of purchaing a Series 1 E-Type FHC , It does not have a radio / speaker unit / Ash tray fitted

SNG barret can supply the unit surround and Ash tray.

Do these units come already covered , or do you need to purchase black vinyl and cover them .

Also any advice on period looking speakers with a CD player that has USB option , ( Do not need a radio never use it and dont want to fit an aerial ) as period as possible , was thinking along the lines of getting a removable modern CD player head unit and have a period radio front that can be slotted placed when not in use .

any ideas apreciated

Have you considered the option of a period radio upgraded to do CD/USB?

No experience of these people but just to show what I mean: http://www.tadpoleradios.co.uk/Default.aspx

Other suppliers are available!

I saw an advert recently and now can't find it (typical) as I fancy getting a period radio for my RS2000 once it's back on the road. If I can find it later (might be in a magazine) I'll post a link to who sells it and edit this post.

However with an E Type you really should just be listening to the engine noise as that's music on it's own. cloud9

Two things to remember about the Becker Mexico retro unit.

It isn't available in positive earth.

Does it have the same dimensions as the original dashboard hole? I don't think so.

thats very useful info,

What I had in mind was something that looks like this

fitted with a "period style radio"

thats been converted to a USB / MP3 player , which gives the best of both worlds " Tadpoleradios

seem to be the best option and cheaper at 250 pounds

You could go for a decent original 1960's fm radio such as a becker or blaupunkt.

I believe these already have an auxiliary connection that could be used for CD/MP3 or whatever.

You should get one these for less than £250.
