I have recently bought a secondhand Ford gearbox, but do not need the bell housing, ( or in fact the 'tail' housing ).

In order to give a full description, when I advertise it on the' bay' it would help if I knew which cars the bell housing will fit...

Thanks in advance.

My limited knowledge and poor memory seems to suggest Mk2 Cortina?

Googling the 3014E bit seems to confirm this, though not sure which variant.

Hi

It looks like the same gearbox as in my TVR which I believe is a 2000E / Bullet box. The bell housing you have is a hydraulic clutch one.

I am not 100% sure though if this bellhousing is the same as mine but if it is it would fit any ford x/flow, lotus twincam etc.

That's the highly desirable 200OE gearbox with a proper gearstick , as fitted first to the Corsair then the Series 1 Mk2 Cortina - hydraulic clutch as previously mentioned , the bellhousing will fit Series 1 and Series 2 models so basically a Mk2 Cortina bellhousing.

here's how it all fit's together , and it weighs a tonne (for a 1600cc setup) with the standard tailshaft as I well know from struggling upside down getting it back in. I have part no's for everything if you need them.

Thanks for those replies.

I bought the complete box/bell housing/tail a few years ago as a spare for my Twincam Elan, as the internals are getting quite hard to obtain.

Presumably the best place to sell the 'unwanted' bits would be 'the bay'? or is there a better place more suited to Old Ford spares...

Thanks RedexR, that diagram is very useful !

I have just taken a pic of the tail housing in order to retreive the casting number ( which is a bit tricky on this one !)...

if that is any more help...

Also have you any idea how much these bits are worth, or even a rough guide ?

E bay is a wonderful place if you are selling stuff like that biggrin bellhousing is a less specialsed but quite often required part , I suppose around £25-£30 upwards , tailshaft housing is anyones guess , a lot of people want to upgrade to the Lotus alloy spec one so the standard one will be less desirable.

lets see how these go

later type gearbox tailshaft
