i used to ride over there as a nipper in Ilford and did buy a RS Turbo G500 NSO in 1991 from him but I guess he was killed off by the insurance in the 90's - any idea anyone?

Not sure but i remember as a kid going over there with my dad in his RS2000 a few times when he was looking to extend his fleet. As you say, probably killed off in the insurance boom.

Always was one of the first things i did when i got a copy of Motoring News was to find the Mike Young ad and see what he had,always lovely descriptions of the cars.It was porn for an RS mad teen.

Had a search on the RSOC and Rallye Sport Escorts but couldn't seem to turn up anything conclusive. I think that saying he was bumped off as an insurance job is a bit harsh though.

When other kids had comics at school I used to get Motoring News and Exchange and Mart on the way to school, how I ended up working in an office I cant explain.....Mike Youngs had a big show room first of all on the main road then moved round to the side road before they up abd went, I remember all sorts there, A Broadspeed Anglia amonest others. he offered me a RS1800 minus engine once for 1500 quid!
