Anyone know a local garage/mechanic who really know about old merc engines? Even our local Merc official dealer wont touch it. Need someone who realy knows these old mercs.

Petersfield Hants GU33 area ideally or near eg Guildford, Portsmouth etc.

A little further out of the way Burseldon Motors are very good, Mercedes only and take good care of your car.

I know that Chris Window at Winspeed Motorsport in the outskirts of Guildford has worked on 50s and 60s Mercedes engine. He's really a Jaguar specialist but they have a 1967 230SL in at the moment and he used to look after a customers 190SL when he was at Race Green.

John Haynes might be a good bet, and quite close to you. I've never used them as I do all my own mechanicals but I've heard good things about them: http://www.mercedesj-a-haynes.com/
