Well that certainly made you look.......you bad :lol: but stick with the story to find out more about 'Knockers' wink

The diesel engine is a relatively new concept in cars, but it has been used in trucks to move our tins of beans and fresh fruit around the UK for many many years. One memory of late 50s early 60s trucks was the Commer TS3 two stroke engine affectionately known as the 'Knocker'. It has to be one of the best sounding diesel engines ever produced. They also de-coked themselves every now and then with sparks flying out of the exhaust

Here are a few youtube links for 'Knockers'

Firing up a 'Knocker'

This one brings back memories, my father drove a 'Knocker' in the late 50s early 60s and when his brother died the whole family went to the funeral in London in the 'Knocker' (2 adults and 4 kids)

Awesome sound

Can't get enough of this sound

Lest we not forget there was also the Foden 2 stroke of roughly the same era and another lovely sounding engine

The 2 stroke engine sounds fantastic, but stationary engines really do take a lot of beating

How about the Cooper Bessemer 100 HP One of the best sounding engines ever and again

Another Cooper Bessemer and again with crankshaft and conrods showing
