Tricky. scratchchin No real landmarks, but appears to be a disused airfield.
Try TNF, that's where the real history boys live.

Very hard. There were hundreds of disused airfields after the war, many of them staged unofficial sprints or official races before returning back to farming.

There is a book out about the old racing circuits whose name I have forgotten. You might want to search, then contact the author for any ideas

It looks like some of the cars at the start are Austin 7s, have you out the film up anywhere? Would love to see it.

Sorry, I don't - yet. But there are some great short film clips. 1938 Donnington GP & some Monte Carlo Rally in 50 / 51 and Tulip Rally at Zandvoort. Mostly colour, I need some video software to extract the film clips, can you recommend a good product ?

What format are the videos in at the the moment? Once digital I would try using iMovie or similar but then I am Mac based.

I jogged in & tried that, but it tells me that I don't have permission to start a topic on the forum.

Any idea why ?

Like PH (and most forums), you need to register.

That's my intention. I need software to edit the video, hope to get this really soon as there are some great motorsport clips from the '30's & '50's that I'd like to share.

Windows Movie Maker can chop video about, and it's free if you're running windows.

Thanks for your advice Dave. I fired up Windows Movie Maker & it seems different to what I remember. Anyway, I found it a doddle to use and extracted this video. I got myself a YouTube account so there'll be no stopping me now.

Ta for your help.

Any more suggestions as to where this is ?

Personally, I think it's Silverstone, but could be wrong.
