Basically I'm considering fitting a few American spec MGB parts to mine (mainly 3 windscreen wiper rack).

Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of someone breaking a US spec car for parts?

(It's that or eBay!)

Thanks

I'd have thought Moss MGOC might do some things new (?)

One question?

Why?

I have an American spec LE, which has the 3 wiper rack, it was originally fitted to fudge their way through swept area of the screen (as with all BL mods for America) it doesn't make any real world improvement to be honest. Also by the looks of your profile you appear to have a GT, I've never seen a GT with the triple wipers (not saying they don't exist but must be rare) and I'm not sure the GT arms would work with the triple wipers without catching each other.

The side markers are debatable as nice or nasty.

The roadster boot rack wouldn't fit your GT (in my opinion one of the nicest bits of the US cars, far nicer than any UK rack).

The dash is obviously LHD, I like it (mine has the later dash not the pillow dash) it's basically the RV8 dash without the wood (infact that's pretty much exactly what it is, proof that Rover fudged things together as much as BL).

Side impact bars are a good feature, probably useless in a crash but nice nonetheless. Also anti burst catches (different to UK models).

Twin fans were fitted to most cars, yet bizarrely deleted oil cooler! Mine still runs twin fans, and they can be easily fitted to a UK car, left and right side are the same and the holes are there to fit. Oil cooler delete I have also kept as if it wasn't needed in California it sure as hell isn't needed in England, one less problem (I hate oil coolers anyway).

You really do not want any of the engine mods, without exception they all remove power, only good things under the bonnet are the improved washer bottle, very very nice Lucas electronic ignition. The steering column is a pain on LHD Bs as it get very close to the exhaust manifold limiting choices, likewise the servo (inline as per late Bs) fouls a standard airfilter housing or large K+N on the rear carb when converted to twin carbs, necessitating use of slightly coned filters.

I could go on, but the basic gist of my post is the American cars are fantastic quirky bits of MG history, I love mine and it is absolutely as original bar the performance sapping engine bits, but I would never fit American bits to a UK car, there just is no point, you end up with a bodged around car with no real benefit, plus the bits are hard to find and replace if they break.

If you (or anyone else) does need help on US MGBs then just let me know, I suspect there aren't many in the UK with the knowledge I've built up as big headed as that sounds.

If you're going to fit American spec parts to your MGB, why not go for Air Conditioning? Just use a Sanden Compressor..
