The idea of a Pistonheads meeting for classics has been raised on the "show us yer jalopy" thread. Suggestions so far include meeting up at the Donington Historic event (or at nearby services and processing to park together at Donington), or at Gaydon or Old Warden. A Midlands venue would make sense. Anyway, let's give the RAC and AA a busy day.

I'm up for that. Midlands would be good. A lot of the PH meets seem to be a lot further south than that.

Great idea! wink

My preference would be the Donington Historic as I'd like to see the old Touring Cars in action.

It's also a great circuit that needs our support.

I don't mind which day we do it.

I would prefer 1st May as I shall be flying back from Canada (where I am going to avoid all that Royal nonsense) on 30th April. I love driving bonkers old cars with jet lag.

I am definately up for this! Wizardskills will be too!

We are down in Bedfordshire so can travel 60miles or so.

How about the Silverstone Classic? We will be there anyway.

Or maybe somewhere where not too many folk may have been to before like Shelsey Walsh. What Salvadori said about Goodwood on a summer's day could just as well be said about SW...and some cracking driving roads to get to it as well along the Teme Valley. Meetings throughout the spring into early Autumn but I'd suggest one of the National Hillclimb Championship rounds for the biggest variety of cars.

Shelsey Walsh.. Good Call.
I like the idea of a meet at Silverstone Classic, but there's already masses of stuff going on there, so maybe somewhere smaller would make it a bit more special.

Listen up you buggers.

How about making a meet in the middle of the country, i.e. Great Britain. It has other countries beside England!

Every time something like this is suggested it is always too far south.

Have you any idea what it would cost me for fuel in the 500 SEC to travel from Glasgow to the London area and back?

Have some consideration, eh!

London? Who mentioned London? Shelsley, Donnington and that concrete wasteland, Silverstone, are pretty much bordering the Artic Circle already wink

Anyway, what about Crystal Palace hehe

tho actually I'd be at Shakespeare County Raceway that weekend

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to arrange with the Midland Automobile Club to organise a designated parking area as well. Doubt you could do that at somewhere like Silverstone.

Yup it's still a long haul from Edinburgh, but doable compared with Goodwood, or Silverstone. Besides it's a new Classic venue and deserves our support for that reason alone.

Go and organise your own and stop whinging.
This is too far north for me but the last thing I'm going to do is complain about it. this guy is making an effort to do a meet, don't knock it if you're not prepared to do something yourself.

Well, I'm going to Donington - even if I'm on my own! frown

Sorry, am I missing something? The OP suggested Donington before this thread was highjacked by those who fear their balls will shrivel if they go north of Watford!

A midlands location is the ideal in order to accommodate people from all regions. Donington has quite a central location within the island and reasonable access by main roads. Gaydon is another idea, if we didn't want to mingle with another event.
