I was thinking of discretely fitting a GPS GSM tracker to my classic. They ones that use pay as you go sim cards that send a text to a predefined number if the car is moved and you can send a text message to it to request its location.

I tried one a couple of years ago but the firmware was so buggy that it coudn't be relied on.

Has anyone any experience of any good ones?

Thanks

We've got a Toad system on our VW camper and are very happy with it. It's an Ai606 with Text alert.

It might be worth looking at the Box tracker range as they are fitted with a more intelligent modem for seaking all of the signals in the vicinity rather than the cheaper devices which will signal to a single receiver only and are therefore more vulnerable to these nasty blocking devices, readily available on the market.

I have a mTrac unit with remote arming. Highly recommended and you get to know the staff personally when you keep forgetting to disarm it and drive off. getmecoat
