Don't reckon that the GT40 pic is from the period but the Willment cars that were built out of the crated cars a few years back. interesting that since they weren't built at the factory some races exclude them, even though they are original 1960's cars just not built up.

You're right. They are probably slave wheels, used to push the car around the factory. The real wheels will be used just befors its ready for the road test

Yes, the wheels come off again at least once before the car leaves the production line - the factory is a series of sheds and so wheels need to be on to move the car about during the build

Aren't they modern Ford GTs?

I used to have an '87 900 Saloon. I had no idea they were so hand built.

Is it just me or does watching that video make you want to buy a classic 900?

I will dig out some classic early 1990's images of 'm'ulletted Germans in Garching putting a 3.6l engine into a BMW E34 M5. Looks like a Bon Jovi concert!!

Kind of hi-jacking this thread a bit, if you could go back in time to watch a car going down the original production line, maybe your car, what would it be and why?

Me, I would like to step back in time to see the Triumph Herald and Daimler SP250 production lines. I would like to see how mass production techniques etc differed from home restorations.
