Road Rally's / Classic Tours ?
Discussion
I want to use my '87 Daimler Double Six more than i do at present, i've thought about some form of road rally or classic tour type of event - Tour Brittania or Le Jog look interesting but 1981 looks to be the cut off date for entrants.
Is there any event , something mildly competitive maybe , that the Daimler would be eligible for ?

I think you might struggle with that one. Yes the cut off date for Cat 3 historics is end of 81. You couldn't (and I promise you, you shouldn't!) use it on a 'modern' road rally as they are limited to max 4 cylinders.
Strictly speaking you would be elligible to enter navigational rallies, but in reality, like modern road rallies, these are fast and rough using very small lanes.
As for other competitive events you would be elligible for, 12 car rallies are often pretty much the same as a navigational, so you would struggle a bit. Navigational scatters organised by local clubs might work for you. You have to visit as many of the locations you can on a long list, then return within a specified time. Depending on how they are run they can be fiercely competitive and very fast!.
Failing that I think it's just the 'touring assembly' type events which are designed to offer a gentle day out for the driver and their passengers but not much serious competition.

Have a look here - 2011 details not on yet but I did this event in 2009 in a Morgan (and won!) and had a really great time. Mildly competitive and visits some great locations and for the money is extremely good value with an entry fee of £130 and a hotel package of circa £270 pp.

Actually I didn't realise but Simon Rossiters 'Classic Rally Tours' events are open to the more modern cars and your Daimler would fit in OK I expect.
They are a little more serious than the touring type events as they include proper 'regularity' timing which forms the basis of most Historic rally road sections. These events are usually well thought out and popular with entrants.
