Can anyone suggest a firm to carry out the above work. Don't want to spend a fortune. I have a 4yr old and a 2yr old and want them to enjoy the car with me,the little petrolheads! Thanks

Quickfit are usually recommended, though I haven't used them myself yet.

are you sure the anchor points aren't already there ?

if it's 79 i presume it's not an Astra A / kadett D type kadett - but they had the mountings already there

iirc i read something a while ago that said anchorage points were mandated long before seatbelts had to be fitted especially in the rear ...

while wikipedia shouldn't necessary be taken as gospel this suggests that rear belts were required in germany from 1979 ...

1979 was the change year from the Kadett C

and the Kadett D

I should think both will have the mountings. The T-Car platform was sold in the USA as various models, all of which would have needed rear belts as early as 1966. The Kadett D would have been designed with them in mind since they would have been aware of the impending German legislation.

Somewhere at the back of the car (probably on the rear pillar, or possibly on the metal bits the parcel shelf sits on) There will be a huge nut welded onto the metal. that's what the seatbelt bolts into. You'll need to make a hole in the trim to put the bolt through.

http://www.securon.co.uk/ make seatbelts for many old cars, they should do the ones you need.

My first car was a Kaddett C coupe, a 1200S, I was like the Dukes of Hazard behind the wheel, it died jumping a bridge.

Fond memories.

We're looking at putting seatbelts in the back of the Mk2 for the same reason.

Pawel at Quickfitsbs couldn't have been more helpful and the standard of workmanship looks very good and quite unobtrusive so when the car comes out of it's winter hibernation it will be going straight there.

Also the guy who writes about his MG Magnette in Classic and Sportscar had his belts fitted by them. He went for a dual belt option so he's got standard fittings for child seats but also more original aircraft style ones for shows. He wrote this up in a feature last year.
