GT, good looking, fast, cheap?
Discussion
After seeing the car below on another thread the cogs have been whirring...
I'd like a good looking GT that is reasonably fast and handles well, preferably with 6+ cylinders. Small and nimble would be preferable to big and wafty. Just trying to think of other options, I've got a couple of MGB GTs that I'm in the process of restoring, I could be tempted to convert one to Rover V8 power and give it Sebring wings etc and keep it, does anyone have an other ideas? It would need to be something pretty cheap (sub <2K) but it can be pretty rough, I don't mind it being a project.
I'm not normally that keen on Scimitars but this one looks fantastic, I could certainly be persuaded to restore one if I could make it look like this when it's finished.

good idea there. Has to have at leaast 6 cylinders. How about the Triumph GT6?
Capri with the V6?
TVR "S"
Stag,
XJ-S
or, really left-field, a Gilburn??
The idea of a GT car really appeals to me- the romance of a rapid car (as opposed to being simply "fast", comfortable seats, boot large enough for luggage, decent heating and ventillation and and engine in thee right place is a great combination. Nevermind that these days, for a longer journey a simple family saloon will get there just as quickly, carrying more people and luggage in greater comfort (aircon, better seats), being more reliable and using less fuel and annonymous enough to park anywhere when you arrive. Nevermind...

Ginetta G21? I've always thought these were good looking/well proportioned + have benefit of being rare so have a degree of exclusive/exotic about them? I think there's a few with 3.0 Cosworth V6's in them so sure a V8 would fit, ( + tweaked suspension + nice detailing etc..could be great ). Seem to sell for between £3k and £7k ish depending on condition with what appear to be reasonable examples for circa £5k. Try Ginetta Heritage for more info.
