Stony Stratford Classic Cars - New Year's Day 2011
Discussion
Popped down to Stony Stratford today to have a look at the annual New Year's Day gathering of pre and post war classics around the market square. Despite the rather drizzly weather, a goodly collection of machinery turned out with their enthusiastic owners and drivers. Some beautiful old Lagondas, Rolls Royces, Austin 7s and a stunning Alfa Romeo were joined by a small group of classic 'bikes whilst the post war element had a glorious purple Lotus Elite complete with white leather trim, an immaculate Austin 'wedge' Princess, a gargantuan Ford Galaxie 500, a lovely Dellow and one of my favourite 'modern' sportscars, a Porsche 964 RS.

I tried to make this, not too much of a challenge you would think having enjoyed the local hostelries the night before, and staying overnight at my folks' house less than a mile away. Unfortunately, owing to a wee hangover & a flat battery, my BMW and I stayed indoors. Looks like a good turnout, thanks for the pics.
To be honest, I wasn't 100% sure it was on either. I stumbled across it last NYD whilst in Stony to buy some provisions. We went along this year on the offchance it was happening again. I think there were more cars there this year than last (which I believe was the inaugural event on NYD) and there were certainly more post-war cars this time too. Apparently there's a similar gathering in June so we may well pop along to that as well; maybe the weather will be kinder then!
I was there on my Royal Enfield. I only found out about it a day or so earlier on the MK news website. There was a decent turnout but I thought it was strange that there was also the 'magic of Motoring' classic car run from Newport Pagnell to Silverstone and back on the same day:
