That is amazing. The engines are fantastic, great fan of the USN PT boats and have both vids referred to in the engine piece.

Woof!

That is one hell of a machine.

Completely torn between marvelling how stupendous the thing is, and mourning the loss a genuine 8 litre Bentley chassis.

That is fantastic, shame they felt the need for silly music as I just wanted to hear it. And why not show vid of it being driven properly? Epic.

FiF, great find thanks for sharing.

Agree about the music spoiling the video, I just wanted to hear the engine!

Is it just me? I was very suprised when the guy said he had only opened the throttle a tiny bit, how could you have control of that much power and not just want to try it.

I'd have wanted to floor it evil

It's not like he weighed the chassis in though, is it? If it was a whole car he gutted I could see how you would be upset. But just the chassis - I'm sure W.O. would have approved of a 42 litre engine.

Agreed. How many monumental car videos are spolied by pathetic music. For FFS the music is the engine. Idiots IMO.

It's a lot madder than his Napier-engined Bentley.

I wonder what he is going to do with it? It looks far too long for circuit racing, let alone hillclimbs (Pardon hairpin at Prescott?). Ideal for a speedbowl like Brooklands (!).

He could always sell it Jay Leno. "Mavis" could just swing the deal...

A running Packard 4M-2500 V12 is quite a rare beasty.... parts for them are almost non-existant now!!

The sound of 3 x of them in the back of a PT/MTB is just something else....which is where this one should be wink

My father-in-law considered taking on the Napier Bentley in the '80s in a swap deal. He decided against it!

The Napier is hilarious at the BDC race meets, it goes from first to last nearly every corner, on the approach to a bend it is overtaken by the entire field, then on the way out and as soon as it straightens up, it passes the lot again, but it's a right handful, he has to keep easing off to put the power down, and it still storms past everyone, then it's the next bend coming up and repeat.

I love it biggrin

I bet Mavis won't do corners at all though, I wonder if he's going to campaign it in circuit racing?

It used to make me laugh that it couldn't even get the power down on the gentle curve of the newer Woodcote! At Copse the big Bentleys were always surrounded by Super Aeros!
