Hi - does anybody know if it's possible to trace service records from early 70's Ford main dealer history? My mk1 Capri has stamps from Norman Reeves and Godfrey James in the first 20k of it's life but no record of works - obviously these dealers are long gone but would be interested to know if there is a record of that sort of thing? Cheers.

I doubt if any records would have been kept by Ford.

Coincidentally, I bought a Cortina from Norman Reeves in Uxbridge High Street.

Hi Neutral, the Noble was wild but brilliant fun - they seem like a real bargain now to be honest, i have some more pictures of it somewhere which i will dig out. Pics of the GXL below. The car has just been MOT'd ready for the summer - it's also had a custom made exhaust courtesy of www.TickOver.co.uk so it sounds pretty outrageous!

I see you have a CSL and Capri racer? - the CSL is one of my all time favorites I must admit! Any pix of your fleet? Cheers

CSL, one of 500 rhd built. To stand any chance of beating the Capris, BMW realised they had to lighten the CSI , so the CSL was the result. Alloy Bonnet, boot lid, Door skins, Even the Fuel filler flap is alloy, body shell is thinner gauge steel compared to the CSI.
Saying that, you wouldnt beleive how heavy the rear side window motors and mchanism is and the bumpers. German Market CSLs were far lighter. But for Britain, BMW had to make them plush, to stand any chance of selling them here. I beleive they were priced @ £7,499 a huge sum of money . Shes a Nov 72 build, but 1st reg in march 73.
Discs all round, Bilsteins f and rear, BMW really went to town with this car. Great shame Ford didnt make the RS3100 Capri something special.
Wanted one since 82, so a long held ambition fullfilled. Cant wait to drive her !!
