Battery chargers and conditioners
Discussion
I use a CTEK the model is Multi XS 3600 (phew!). My only positive earth car is the Healey into which I've installed a negative earth cigarette lighter, it's mounted in a plastic box. I did this to be able to use most modern electronics from it and to charge. If you don't want to change the positive earth cigar lighter, CTEK supply with their kit an adaptor to fix permanently to the car battery so connecting is nearly as easy as with the cigar lighter. I use the cigar lighter connection on all my other cars.
The CTEK unit monitors charge state and only charges when necessary. It also operates automatically in various charging phases using variable rates which are meant to bring about desulphation (their words, I think something was lost in the translation from Swedish, they meant desulphurisation).
It really works well and appears to be well made.

There are many out there that can be plugged into the cigar lighter socket all winter, but are there any that will work with positive as well as negative earth? If you know of one, I'd be very grateful.
Got Accumates on the Aston, the Healey and the TVR both +ve earth and -ve earth. All good Tony.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
