I saw this earlier in the week up for sale at about £4.5K

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

It's now up for sale at nearly £10K at a smalltime dealer here

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C199227/

and here

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2327870.htm

Now that's what I call inflation!!

Good luck to the dealer. I feel sorry for the original seller who sold it to them!!

Well, he's only offered it, it will be something else to actually sell it at that price. Still, it is the Mk 2, which is the nicest version.

Another dealer that can't spell concours. smile

Well the seller sold it at a price he was happy with and the buyer thinks he can get more.

Maybe he can, but a £10k GT6. Don't make me laugh...

I know of a number of few GT6s that have touched the region of £10K.

The one at £13K is a bit of a dogs dinner. Too many none standard parts on it. The cars that go close or over £10K are restored to original standard with everything right on it.

I would say the MkII that they are asking nearly £10K is worth £6-7K maximum but you will get someone who is eager to be parted with their money.

It doesn't say how much it sold for, though.

It's been up for sale for less than a week - do you really think they will have dropped it by more than a few hundred pounds?

Was that addressed to me?

Anyway, who knows or cares. I've always thought that buying used cars from dealers is insane behaviour anyway, so maybe he did find a nutter with £10K to spend.

This is also being discussed on the Club Triumph forum. It would appear that this car has interior components from a mk3 but none the less there is interest in it.

So looks like if the guy holds out he may get his asking price. Good luck to him that's a hell of a profit!

This happens all the time! Go to lots of Classic car sales. The last one there was a 205 GTI went for 1100 pounds a week later on a website 3995 Bargain! LOL

Also a silver Escort Mex every panel was a different shade of silver a complete shed! Think it made 5k Then a week later someone put RS2000 Stripe kit too cover the poor paint and sold it for 10k

There is nothing new in an old dog being sold on and some chancer tarting it up for a quick profit but what is unusual about the GT6 is it does look like a very genuine well restored car.

I wonder what made the original seller give it away like that.

Maybe he was misguided like those who believe a GT6 can never be worth £10K when in reality a good GT6 at £10K can be a lot of fun and give a lot of pleasure without having to go through the hard work and expense of a restoration.

As GT Kevins already said, it happens all the time smile

In IIRC 2007 I sent Ferrari 412 chassis 62627 to one of H&H's sales on behalf of a client (I didnt want it as it had no service history) car made around £11k, two days later the car was up on a well known Aston specialists website for £24k and advertised as having full history hehe shortly afterwards I started receiving increasingly desperate calls, asking for help locating the history as the bod who'd given them a £10k profit was a tad upset that he had a car without history and therefore in the Ferrari world, worth far less and far harder to shift come upgrade time.
