Walter Hassan of Bentley, ERA, Coventry-Climax & Jaguar

Whilst delving deeper into the history of my engine I learnt a little about one of its key designers - the late Walter "Wally" Hassan, O.B.E. I was so impressed by his CV I added a few words about him on my personal blog

He comes across as a modest gentleman. One thing that made me smile was his definition of what the initials O.B.E. stand for - "Other Bugg*rs Efforts"

Very good. I love the Bentley part. I've watched several of the featured 20's cars racing over the years. The record attempts in the 70's were by people I knew as a boy. Heroes I suppose. Gone but not forgotten and the cars are still going strong!
