TR4A rebuilt engine running hot
Discussion
The idea of keeps running is down to ignition timing, and easily sorted.
The overheating could be many things- is the radiator getting hot? Is the stat opening when it should? (test this in a saucepan in the kitchen with a thermometer)
Have you got the right mix of coolent and water?
Any airlocks?
There are lots of possabilities, none of them life threatening, so dont worry and work your way through the system
For accepting this advice you now need to post some photos of the car please!

Just running in my rebuilt TR4A engine: new pistons, liners, valves, reground crankshaft etc. Problem is its running hot (and runs on when I switch the engine off). The Kenlow doesn't make much difference. The neddle rests midway between normal and hot, Any help much appreciated.
Does it turn over freely or is it a bit tight? I've known newly rebuilt engines to run a bit warm.Huntsman said:
