Ok, I currently have a Suzuki Cappuccino and need to look at changing it in the next few months. I like two seaters, but looking for unusual cars, so MX5, Audi TT, BMW Z3 are out. What is out there with possible less than 1000 cars on UK roads?

Yeap in the kei club, so have seen these beauties, not many good examples of these around so would have to import this one. I did test drive one and it was a little heavy so probably won't go for this one.

Scimitar SS1, although I'm not sure about the reliability or how much a decent one would cost.

Now this is an interesting suggestion, will do some research.

What about a Fiat Barchetta? Not sure if less than 1000 in the uk, but very rare nonetheless

Yea I have test driven one of those and is a beautiful car, just the left hand side driving didn't appeal. Might go for this again though now.

Hi Caz,

Bit of a left feild suggestion, but what about a Fiat Barchetta? There is quite a nice one in the classifieds at the moment with low mileage, but it is on the Isle Of Man- good value though.

You can just about get a Lotus Elan M100 for £3k too

This GTM Rossa is my personal favourite though, even if it is a bit over budget. (if you fancy something completely unusual)- http://pistonheads.com/sales/2010739.htm

ETA- Where the hell did i get the £3k from?! haha. anyway, what is your aproximate budget?

and beaten to it on the barchetta- damn

I've had my TVR 350I for ten months now, which I bought for £2,750.

It's my only car, used almost every day, and apart from some running repairs and some wear and tear fixes it's not let me down yet!

Wow I love the Rossa, only seen the Libra and Coupe, I didn't know they did others.

The Elan is something I have also looked at, but the S1 is a bit underpowered, and I can't afford the S2. The M100 old ones are lovely, but probably too old to be within the reliability bracket really.

Looks like a good example but its only a 1300cc so its going to be slow. I think they did an 1800cc turbo. A Nissan Silvia engine if I remember correctly.

Fiat X1/9, looks a good one albeit over budget starting at £3,850. More than 1000 made but I would expect less than that on the roads today?

Alfa Spider? (models up to 1992/3 with the classic shape). Not sure if you'd get a good one for your budget.

You won't get the slightly preferable S4 for that (91-93) but you may get the S3 (1980's) for £3k at this time of year. Cracking car.
MGF?
Alfa Spider 916, 1995 onwards?

My brothers MGF is in garage today biggrin

Reliability on Spiders is fine....its the rust you need to worry about!
I drove an S4 Spider for 4 years as my daily, parked outside, didn't have anything more than usual maintenance issues (and a few obvious Italian electrical problems!)
