A quick update ....

Just added some more words to my blog at http://www.xj13.eu for anyone interested.

I'm still waiting for the "original" to return from Paris where it was used to promote the new gas-turbine prototype. As soon as it returns we can make any last-minute adjustments to our digital CAD data before we go ahead and produce a scale model in advance of manufacturing the full-size buck etc.

Was amazed to find a "new old stock" unused ZF transaxle to almost exactly the same spec as the one used in the XJ13 (ZF DS25-1) - it even has correct gear and final drive ratios. It was living in Utah of all places - the previous owner bought it for a project that never materialised. These things are getting like rocking-horse s**t! Isn't eBay wonderful? wink

Prototype engine is now safely ensconced with a well-known Jaguar V12 specialist in the UK. I was thrilled to receive a phone call recently saying a gentleman called Jim Eastwick (81 and someone who helped assemble and run the original prototype V12s on Jaguar's test bed) is interested in seeing the engine and could he come and check out its rebuild. I'll be posting pics of the rebuild on my blog as it progresses.

Visited the Jaguar Spares Day at Stoneleigh last week. Was pleased to add to my growing collection of period electrical components for the car. Also confirmed details while I was there for a new alloy rad I have commissioned. It will be based on the D-Type's (as the 1966 XJ13 original - wheras a modified XJ12 item was used for the XJ13 during its rebuild in 1972/73). I am still looking for a pair of Lucas Fuel Pump "bombs" as in this picture - anyone have one they want to sell me? It is used to supply a constant 100psi to the Lucas metering unit.

the fuel pump "bombs" used to run very hot and not very reliable. it may be worth using a modern fuel pump in a mocked up case for reliability. ring Chris at CKL though as i think there was one in the stores although i haven't seen it recently .

saw the XJ13 as 86PJ was dropped of at our workshop after being on lone for the Paris show. does look a great car smile

Thanks Bozwell - I'll certainly give him a ring.

Sounds as if the car is back in the UK but I may have a little wait before it returns to Coventry. Any idea how long?

I was interested in your post concerning the E2A and whether or not it should be raced. You mentioned that the original 3 litre engine had been displayed by Jaguar in the 1970s. The condition of my quad-cam V12 is very similar to the E2A engine - all shiny etc. I do know that my engine was displayed by Jaguar at the Herbert Gallery in Coventry in the early 1970s. Do you reckon it could have been the same exhibition as the E2A engine?

i thought the XJ13 was going straight back? anyway, it was Paul Skilliter that thought that the 3.0 engine was a display engine (the internals were very definatly used), so it may be worth contacting Paul.
