Inspired by this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

What do you lust over that isn't the norm? That Colt certainly fits the bill, so fair play there. biggrin

So nothing exotic, or too expensive on this thread please, or the usual, just things you'd rather like to have that you've seen for sale recently which could be described as somewhat unusual or untypical to want to own but deep down you know you never will. That maybe won't have mass appeal.

I'll start with this beauty I found this evening.

Wonderful! biggrin

Also there seem to be more Volvo 1800ESs around than there have been for a while, that's another thing I'd love as a daily driver. cool

I have a list of cars that I'd like to have as a daily driver for, say, six months, just for the experience. Mostly the unloveds from the 70s/80s range of motors, but they include the Vauxhall Magnum, Mitsubishi Starion, Volvo 480 and Reliant Scimitar.

There's other more desirable, more valuable oddities out there, but these ones will do for starters.

I quite like the Panther Kallista and this one seems too cheap http://www.catalogue-host.co.uk/richardedmonds/201...

I have emailed them to query the estimate and to find out the condition of the car but no reply as yet.
If I got it for that price and shipped it to my current location - New Zealand - I'd be happy. Any helpers??

As for a car I'd like but most likely will never get;

I would like an Austin 1100 or 1300 Automatic, that I would use for commuting into London each day.

Always hankered after something old and big ... something like a Humber Super Snipe, P5 Rover, Vauxhall Cresta etc. Anything BIG and from the 60s really - a bit like me.

At opposite ends of the spectrum and with 0% chance of me actually buying one, I've thought an early Alfasud could make a great city and b-road car. And I've also always fancied some giant Yank tank - something like a Caddy or Hudson from the 50s, or maybe an Impala from the 60s.

Well, MikeyT has already mentioned it, so it can't be that unusual, but I have had a longing for a Rover P5 for a long time.

Oh, and a Volvo P1800, even a sportshatch one, is a stunning car and surely not an unusual "want". I mean, the Saint drove (a normal) one.

Always liked the looks of these. Very strange with a three seat arrangement. Not many about in the UK.

Don't laugh (oh, go on!) but I've driven a Messerschmitt and a Trojan in my youth but always wanted to try out the Tiger version with the 500cc engine, four speed box and - marvel of marvels, a reverse. Apparently pretty quick in the day and very advanced technology which gave superior handling. 20bhp with 75mph top speed, but that low to the ground it must be one hell of a lot of fun.

Good call. Loved seeing those down on the French Riviera in the late '70s when I was a kid.

hehe i didn't realise that something as unreliable, poor handling and tin worm friendly was actually desirable to non retards, maybe there is still hope for me yet wink

I also fancy something along the lines of an Austin 7 Ulster but i guess that's another one that most would like to have in their stables.

I've always had quite a thing for the Opel Monza, but I very much doubt I'll ever buy one.

Saab 95 (just to be clear, the estate version of the 96).
Robust, prob still reliable, easy to maintain, functional and a bit quirky, some might say ugly..not me.
All would be well until I needed to tow the rally car to an event, then I would want my Volvo XC70 back, tempting though.
