Old MW/LW car radio with new FM internals - any info please?
Discussion
I have a Radiomobile in my 1968 MGC and I like the look of it, but it sounds crappy. Has anyone had their old car radio with MW/LW tuning, fitted with new internals to tune in FM and maybe attach an iPod as well ? I have seen a few adverts for this (and I think I saw a stand at Beaulieu Autojumble) and I wondered if someone has some first-hand experience that they could share.
Thanks very much

I had the radio in my '64 Lincoln repaired and updated by Alan at the Vintage Wireless company.
I think their website is down at the moment though - here are the details:

I have a radiomobile 1070XB with a 3.5mm jack in the back. I got it from e-bay. It sounds pretty good when connected up to an iPod or similar, it doesn't go very loud, but it goes as high as you would want. It sounds pretty much as good as the modern alpine unit I took out (bought it, installed it, hated the look). If I want radio I could always get a pure DAB in car reciever.
The vintage wireless company's website seems to have been down for a long time, I couldn't get on to it when I was looking a few months back. Their advert in this months copy of classic car's for sale says their phone number is 0161 973 0438 hope posting that isn't in breech of any rules...could you let me know hwo much it costs to update a radiomobile?
