Dunno, but in 1961 I got 12p an hour working on the farm for the harvest, and in 1962 working for Sun Life Cheapside I got £300 pa plus £30 London weighting.
12p an hour!! thats 12d as we used to call it. Along with ten bob, half crown, one pound note, tanner. Must be some more 'old money' terms I expect. Wonder if any fuel service provided garages still exist in U.K.crankedup said:

Wonder if any fuel service provided garages still exist in U.K.Looking at an inflation calculator at 22p a gallon in 1961 it'd be around £3.10p now, but from the rise to 50p in late 73 due to the middle east war it would be equivalent to £4.10 now.
My wage now would be the equivalent of £34 in 1961 but I'm sure my dad only earned around £10PW back then.
