What did I see
Discussion
Excuse the stunningly detailed description, but can any shed any light on what I might have seen.
It's french
like a mini traction avant
green
and there is a story about the Nazis looking for it while it was in france.
Hamel was mentioned ?
I've tried google using all different spellings and key words , but no luck
so is there anyone out there that might know what I saw.

The only car I can think of that fits that description (apaprt from the 'mini traction' bit) is the 2CV Type A prototype. By the start of WWII there were a couplle of hundred or so, and they were hidden all over the place.
The Nazis asked Pierre Boulanger for the plans of the TPV (which became the 2CV) in exchange for sight of the plans for the Volkswagen, although Boulanger always refused.

Thanks Doofus, but I have just tried searching for type A, TPV, 2CV and boulanger.
But I'm still no closer, I'll try to get some more info next week as it's really starting to annoy me.
On another note,
As a kid in the 70's , I remember walking round an old gravel pit and seeing loads of 50's and 60's scrap cars. a few years later the place got bought ,turned into a nature reserve with no one allowed on-site.
Just bumped into the guy that owns the place and although some cars and scrap were cleared, some were also left, but he has not been into that area of the reserve for over 15 years.
Hopefully should be going for a look in the next week or so, If I manage to get in I'll make sure I find out the makes this time.
