Hi Guys,
This is a long shot, I’m looking for a “Monte Carlo Rally” guru…

A mate owns a 1966 Lotus Cortina, it has no older paper history, but was told it ran in the Monte Carlo Rally when new. Indeed in 67 there were 2 French registered Cortina’s entered. Car 129 Delalande and car 131 Greder.

I’m looking for the chassis number for these cars. I’ve spoken to Henry Greder but he has no records of his cars ID. The next idea is to contact the Automobile club Monte Carlo but I suspect they won’t be able to help.. I’m also waiting to place a question on the Lotus Cortina registrar.

Any other ideas whom / where to ask ?

Kindest regards
Matthew

Whether it is any help or not!

Both the cars 129 and 131 started at Reims and finished. 131 was classified as 12th overall and 129 finished 80th.

From a very bad quality picture I have in a period report car 131 had the reg of 5886 SL 75, or very similar.

Another place worth trying is the Nostalgia section on the Autosport forum.

Try contacting HRCR, (Historic rally car register). That's the place for old rally car enthusiasts smile

Just to confirm the registration number. I have a photo at the Pont Durandy control as he slides the car wide to avoid running into the rear of the Bianchi-Delferier Citroen. 5986 SL 75 it is, so a central Paris plate. Who were the Ford main dealers in Paris in the day?

Thanks Lowdag,

I can now confirm car 131 Henri Greder was an official Ford Entry.... He had various Ford drives including 66 Monte in a Mustang and LM in a GT40.

I hop eto know friday the chassis numbers of car 129 and 131...
