Aluminum bonnet 60’s MGB
Discussion
A quick search of eBay reveals some for sale, prices vary between £10 (auction) and £100 buy it now. They are quite rare now as they were only fitted in the early years of production and are easily damaged by dents and minor dinks. A fe years ago I used to specialise in breaking MGB's and used to sell these for £50 if they were in very good condition, so I expect you should get that or maybe a littele more for it. More importantly , if you have an MGB, consider having it fitted as they are a considerable weight saving and a good talking point.
I'm sure for a while the british motor heritage limited had them back in production recently but strictly limited, they've possibly got rid off the lot by now, and the tooling too, there may be some around at moss and other specialist but I estimate very little change from 200 quid.
Second hand is probably the way to go.
But interestingly I have just been introduced to a product called duralac (not the company that makes johnnies's)

may be usefully to prevent electrolytic corrosion between steel and aluminium, I heard its mainly for marine application but can equally be used in road cars, I think some lotus elise owners may be familiar with it. It'd be silly not to try the stuff its fairly reasonable.
