Help appreciated with the identification of this .....

I was thinking mid 70s British Leyland, but I have no recollection of owning anything with a head like this.
The bore is roughly 80mm. Please enlighten me so as we can decide whether or not to chuck it in with the scrap.

Don't know but as you have probably spotted it's not a crossflow design so perhaps you're on the right track with BL.

Triumph spitfire/MG Midget 1500.

I'm making a guess at 1500, as it's similar to some of mine, but it could be 1300.

I may be interested in it if it's for sale.

I'll measure the valves tomorrow as my good lady frowns upon engine parts in the house overnight.....never understood that.

Cheers pal, if it's got big valves then it may well be a good start for a flowed head!

A few measurements and it seems to be a later 1500 Spitfire head, 1.38" ex. and 1.7" in.

TKC 1155 is the identifying part number , stamped outside the rocker cover adjacent to number 3 cylinder.

I have given it the once over and it is in good condition, no appreciable wear in the valves or guides.

It turns out my son acquired the head to practice his valve lapping technique many moons ago, so the part is definitely not wanted any more.
