hi guys first time posting on your excellent site and i thought id put up a few pics of our latest purchase over here in the emerald ilse ! its a 1949 dodge b2b pick-up "hearse" or so we are led to believe , it has been in a shed for over twenty years and the last owner is sadly dead so all that we can find out about it is = imported from america in 1951 as a pick-up converted into a hearse by some back street yokel , we have found out since that a second pick-up was sourced from the states as a donor vehicle but sadly this was buried by hymac some years ago , the engine ( a flat head six cylinder petrol ) is currently siezed and we are trying to no avail to free it out !!!! enjoy the pics .

Ideal rat-rod funeral car, get it running, but please don't clean it up!

great find! cool

If it's still stuck I'd be inclined to take the head off and check for sticking valves. There are some B2B pickups about in the UK, but I've not seen a hearse conversion on that era of Dodge over here before.

They're Zephyr 4s, Zephyr 6s had a vertical bar in the grille and Zodiacs had twin headlights.

It also helps that it says Zephyr in big letters across the front of the bonnetsmile

Have a look at Yank military stuff of a similar era. You will probably find a large parts commonality amongst the kit.

The shape is similar to some Dodge ambulances that I have seen.

Good luck with getting it running, but another vote for leaving it in that condition.

Great project by the way but are you sure it came from the States being as its right hand drive? Is it more likely that it was an export model to South Africa or Australia?
