Where to buy fuel... fill up in UK or France ?

Goverment site with the price of all fuel on sale in France.
You need to search by department but it is simple to click on the map.
You can also put in your route and it will identify filling stations on the route.
Bonne voyage

Like in the UK never fill up on the motorway if possible
Either fill up in the UK or as you leave the ferry, but on a different tack frankly it doesn't relly matter does it? You're on holiday, so a penny a litre isn't that important. We all know of people who'll go 20 miles to save 20p, and for some reason (we are all about the same) it seems to be a thing not to pay too dear, but when we think about it the difference is a couple of quid at the most. Like half a pint of beer perhaps.

This.If you're on that much of an economy drive, you can't afford to go on holiday at all.

Nothing wrong with being cost-conscious on holiday - it means you can go on holiday more often!
I'm just back from a 2,000 mile holiday in France in the 635csi. That's a lot of petrol stops!
98 ron over there was approx 1.50 Euros on the autoroutes and approx 1.33 Euros at supermarkets. At 1.20 euros to the pound, that equates to £1.25 and £1.11 respectively.
98 Ron around here seems to be up at about £1.22 at non-Mway forecourts.
So assuming you don't have to pay some hideous commission to change your money, 98 ron at a french supermarket seems the best bet.

Travelling from the UK to Switzerland in the next couple of weeks, just like to know if is it cheaper to fill up in the UK or in France ?
First place to fill up is at CitiEurope in the underground car park. Cheapest place in the whole area. I was finding them around 10c cheaper than anything in Calais.Second fill on the way to Molsheim. As you head for Strasbourg take exit 44 and go cross country. About 6-7 miles south of the exit (iirc) are two petrol stations - one is a Carrefour and the other is an unmanned one on a Renault dealership forecourt (both on the right, and the unmanned is on a left leaning bend). These two places are the cheapest anywhere. On diesel at least they are 20c less than anything near the autoroutes. These two stations in Alsace are also cheaper than Switzerland.
If you want the really cheap petrol, head for Livigno near St Moritz, and diesel is about 70c and petrol not much more.

It's not uncommon to find a 15p/ltr difference in the price of super between autoroute stations and towns. On a 3k mile trip that adds up to £60-100, or the cost of a hotel night. Not to mention the satisfaction of knowing you're not paying through the nose for the sake of missing a 1-2 mile detour.

I'm sure you are right. I don't have much of a clue how much I pay for fuel anywhere. I live in both the UK and France, and my ethos is that life's too short for many things; petrol station hunting being one of them. Nothing wrong with being cost-conscious on holiday - it means you can go on holiday more often!
