Spotted yesterday at the Sun Inn, North of Leeds - it was very nice, I'm wondering what it was.

Dark Red, I'm guessing 1950's American Ford, Pretty large, (high roofline), 4 door saloon, lovely rounded streamliner style body. Bench seats, one of those sun visor style things over the front window, lots of chrome, and 'Fordomatic Transmission' badges on the rear, V8 badges on the side.
Black steel wheels with chrome hubcaps.

Made a very lovely noise too.

What was it? Anyone here?

I'd guess at a 1951/52 Ford from that description.

Almost certainly it was a Ford Pilot. These were made in Britain in right hand drive form and had a beautiful flat top V8 motor.

My uncle had one for a number of years.

Not with a Ford-O-Matic badge on it, and not to mention, a Pilot could hardly be described as having "a lovely rounded streamliner style body" wink

As I said, most likely a '51-52 Ford

Could be any one of many. Google image Edsel & Fairlane see if you find it.

Aeropilots right, thats the one.

It was a really nice coherent' design, it just looked right.

Done a little reading, apparently quite a well resolved car, with some clever engineering the one I saw must have been 51 or a 52 to have the Ford-o-matic transmission and 'custom deluxe' spec level.

Lovely machine!
