Coming shortly , with Bob Hoskins and Miranda Richardson.

A film showing the struggle for the women of Dagenham's largest employer in the late sixties , I shall be watching from a slightly different point of interest though , this film should feature many Ford motor cars of that particular time - before car seats were comfortable in the heat of summer and men did the washing up.

Spot on, looks excellent

BBC - just remember stuff like this when you're whinging about the cost of the TV license

Plus many BBC and Channel 4 films are far superior to most that comes out of Holywood

The whingers are not worthy, stump up for Sky and see where the quality goes

Indeed , a couple more of the promo photograph's. The release date is the 1st of October , they could even do some sort or promo at the Goodwood revival , the timing would be perfect.

I watched a documentary on Ford-Dagenham on TV a while back, that featured these events and had recent interviews with some of the key female workers (most of them are now well into their 70's) that brought about the changes in the working practices for women at Ford. It was quite interesting, and had some great archieve film footage as well.

1970, I wonder of they will cover the England team getting their 1600 Es.Each member of the squad recieved on for free. I`d be interested if any survive.
I worked there for a while back in the day after being made redundant from one job.You could only get in if you were a TGWU member.I was there for a short while before the big strike,6 weeks I beleive on virtually full pay. There were always mass walkouts over petty stuff, such as poor quality tea, luch and tea break changes, incorrect procedures etc etc.I don`t remember seeing a woman outside of the canteen . Great mix of people though. Anyone from a doctor to an ex con worked there.

Interesting.... I wonder if they were all on consecutive Essex reg plates...?

Somewhere I have an old b&w photo taken around the same time of a very young me standing next to Geoff Hurst's Zodiac Executive MkIV, when I met him when he opened a new sports shop that was owned by a mate of my Dad. IIRC it was winter time, so I guess it was very early 1970 before the finals.
And a lot of people forget that Jimmy Greaves took part in the 1970 World Cup Rally in one of the works Escorts....with Tony Fall IIRC.

The "Great World Cup" GWC 1600E cars have only a few survivors , one collector has two or three but not currently on the road , another two are under restoration , I used to know a guy who owned 10H the Geoff Hurst car back in the early 80s , no one batted an eyelid then but worth a fair few quid now.

Here is a recent search using the DVLA site.

GWC 1H- no result as a Ford, Mercedes does come up.
GWC 2H- currently off road, V5 issued in July so the car must survive
GWC 3H- no result
GWC 4H- not been taxed since 1990
GWC 5H- unlicensed, last taxed in 2003
GWC 6H- unlicensed, last V5 issue in 1982
GWC 7H- unlicensed, last V5 issue in 2001
GWC 8H- unlicensed, last V5 issue in 1985 (listed as green in colour)
GWC 9H- still shows up as a Ford, unlicensed, last V5 issue in 2005
GWC 10H- unlicensed, last taxed in 2000
GWC 12H- no result
GWC 13H- no result
GWC 14H- no result
GWC 15H- no result
GWC 16H- no result
GWC 17H- unlicensed, last V5 1985
GWC 18H- no result
GWC 19H- unlicensed, last taxed 1997
GWC 20H- no result
GWC 21H- no result
GWC 22H- no result
GWC 23H- no result
GWC 24H- no result
GWC 25H- unlicensed, last V5 1979 (listed as green in colour)
GWC 26H- unlicensed, last taxed 2001
GWC 27H- no result
GWC 28H- unlicensed, last V5 issue 1984 (listed as maroon in colour)
GWC 29H- unlicensed, last taxed in 1994
GWC 30H- no result

some pictures of the cars when they were new , it was a slightly different photoshoot as all the players were in there team strips.

Jimmy Greaves drive in the 1970 London to Mexico rally featured in last months Motorsport magazine , a creditable effort for a celeb driver as I recall.

Here are some interesting pictures of the Dagenham production line ; Mk1 Cortina

and my favourite Dagenham one - the millionth export Cortina - the ultra rare 2 door 1600E.

Wasn't it BBC 4 that showed a film on the women's struggle for equality at Dagenham not long back? Lots of period footage and interviews. A very good documentary. Nevertheless, I'll buy this DVD when it comes out.

Indeed it was Tony with Alan Ford (who better) doing the commentary , there was also this tribute to the humble Cortina a while ago although I am worried about some of the representations in there..

also I was quite taken with the retitling of Made in Dagenham for the German market eek -
