Keep seeing dire warnings on the new stuff "do not use on cars before 1998"

What's that all about ? What should you use in classics ?

It seems that the 'new' red and orange coloured antifreeze solutions are made from entirely different chemicals than the old blue colour stuff we are used to. The new antifreeze chemically attacks seals in old engines which, of course, leads to numerous leaks in coolant system. Now this is all true for my era of car interest which is pre 1930's and as such I stick to Bluecol or similar. For your 1998 vehicle I am not at all sure if my message applies.

If your engine has been rebuilt you could use 4-LIFE (use undiluted)

excellent for detecting the source of small difficult to locate leaks
safety colour indicates leaks and gasket failure
protects against corrosion eliminating scale deposits
10 year life
cooler running higher boiling point @ 160 C, down to -36C
anti-foam agent that prevents engine hot-spots
