I am currently with an well known broker, they feature an butler on their advertising, the price to insure my vintage car has risen yet again therefore I need to look around. Brokers and Company recommendations please.

I got my classic insurance through performance direct. That actual policy is with Chaucer Insurance. They were the cheapest I could find, but then again I haven't been driving all that long

Peter James - everything thrown in, no farting about with limited mileage, no hassle agreed valuation (below £15,000), Uk & Europe Breakdown, legal cover, fully comprehensive (drive other cars third party)

mine included no garage,

NOTE: you can get them to call you back - Available 9am-5pm Monday to Friday - go to the bottom of this page - http://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/ and fill in the 'Call Me and give me a quote' section - note, 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

Please note the notes - some have moaned about getting a call in or back

Note:

Classic insurance for trackdays

My XK is insured through Heritage and they provide free cover for club trackdays. I want to attend a non club event and so was looking for cover. Heritage will cover me for £115 for a day. Has anyone any experience of other companies for trackday cover?

I use Hagerty http://www.hagertyinsurance.co.uk/index.aspx gave me a very good price, approximately half what I'd paid the year before and very friendly and helpful on the phone

with Peter Best if you tell them about the track day and they agree I think it's no extra charge (but you'd have to check)

also my cover is for a slightly modified car

Windscreen cover is a good one to check up on, not the excess, but the maximum they will pay out.

I was with RH for years, I needed a screen, it was £1243.00 fitted Including VAT, they paid out in full.

I then swapped to Lancaster (can't remember why, mileage limit I think) and lightning struck twice, I was very unlucky and needed a new screen, they only paid up to £250, I had to pay the rest.

I was straight back to RH come renewal time.

I've used Lockton's for years. They give me unlimited track day use included in the policy. Give Brian Stephenson a ring on 0845 6022 579. They cover me Europewide too and include a 12 month green card! (That's not cheap though!) I can also say that some years back, when I was forced off the road by a Renault 5 driver into a ditch with my D-type, they came up trumps then too.

Thats quite interesting, my renewal is coming up and Ive stuck with Carole Nash for the past few years for convenience really... But Im sure Im not getting the best deal.

How do insurers view the car being stored somewhere other than your own home address these days. Im wondering about storing it at my parents as the garage is bigger and they are always there.

With regards to storing at a different address, I haven't experienced any problems when obtaining quotes and cover, they just need the postcode and apply the applicable rates etc.. One of the problems of having more cars than garages!

Ending the thread I was offered four quotes and Hagerty provided the best value for money and best coverage for lowest quote. Carole Nash run an very close second, with RH and then Footman completeting my search. So thanks for the leads to all those that responded.smile
