Any ideas on where to locate a good example ? I'm based in Kent and would rather not travel too far to view/buy.

I've searched the obvious classifieds with no success.

Thanks.

They are getting so expensive now. And a good example is very hard to find at a decent price. The problem is, as with most 'affordable classics', that any descent 500 would have been the subject of a recent restoration, thus would have had more than the 'value' of the car spent on it at the very least. So when putting it up for sale the vendors obviously want to recoup the cost of the recent restoration as well as making themselves a tidy profit. The recent large hikes in the price/popularity of restoration work have also contributed to the price of a nice restored example rising from £3k in 2006 to upwards of £8-10k in today's market.

As an unsavoury side effect to this, we are starting to see many imports come into the
UK's market, with very shoddy/rushed 'restorations' (read paint jobs) and sold as fully restored, but slightly cheaper than the UK cars.

Look hard enough and you will find, but unfortunately it is a minefield (unless money is no object).

The www.fiat500club.org.uk is a good resource and probably the best place to be acquainted with a new car/fellow enthusiasts, however the majority of the sites users do not appear to mind throwing unlimited money at their 'babies' as they but it.
