Good garages for Vintage MOTs in York.
Discussion
Good afternoon all,
The MOT on my Morris 8 expired before winter, and I'll be looking to get it re-certified shortly. Does anyone have any recommendations for garages in York or the surrounding area that are familiar with performing MOTs on Classic/Vintage cars? I know that is exempt from quite a number of elements on test, but want to make sure that I go to a garage that knows this too!
Thanks,
Tom

I can't help with a particular outfit. But what I can say is make sure you understand the rules and inform them if they are wrong. They have a big book with all the rules in it so they can check. Make sure they understand that there will more play in all things like suspension and steering. Generally it is easy to get MOT's on vintage cars as the tester know that these cars are looked after and driven less than most modern cars. Most testers I have come across know the rules and will not fail if it is exempt.
I own Greenway Garage in Newton on Ouse ( few miles north of york) and we deal with a number of classic and sports cars and are a registered MOT station. We are enthusiasts and i personally own a number of classic cars and understand that owners of special cars want them treated with care and respect...we are on the web if you want some background info, and our number is 01347 848414 stephen
