Wasn't that a badged Honda?
Yes, but build with British steel and a splash of under seal*. As a result it wasn't just a reskin of 1960's chassis with an engine designed in the 1950's as the Dolomite 1500SE it replaced.- In fairness by the early 80's the Japanese has started rustproofing non-JDM cars and loosing their 70's reputation for rust).

Quite a contrast that the manufacturer who made this wonderful car ended up making the Acclaim...
Triumph didn't make the Italia, the Italian coach builders Vignale did.Anyway, by most measures the Acclaim was the best car Triumph ever made!
In my opinion, the Acclaim might have been a 'good car', but it wasn't a 'good Triumph'. Sure, Triumphs may have had problems in the past, but they had personality. Sorry for kind of hi-jacking this thread on a lovely Triumph/Vignale product with some Acclaim bashing, I'll shut up now...
