Owners of any Classic Thundersaloons,Special Saloons and Modsports aged from the 1950s to the 1980s are to have a social gathering at a 3 day event in a few months time.Last years event had over 15,000 spectators and 2000 assorted modified cars come throu the gates, many doing the quarter mile runs.
There will be an allocated area for all the owners of these cars, enabling them to show the public what awesome machinery they are and do some timed runs over the days.
Modified Madness,Baker Barracks,Thorney Island,July 9/10/11th 2010.
There will be Trade stands, club displays,a fun fair, beer tents and music.Trailers, tents and vans can park behind our cars on the grass.
Many of us are sleeping in tents or vans and at the moment we have about twelve cars gathering including Lee Costellos Thundersaloon, the ex Peter Thurston MK1 Ford Escort,a Modsports Lotus Elan and a space framed Turner Sports Car.So if you have a Thundersaloon,Special Saloon or Modsports race car even if its still in primer and hasnt been raced for years.
It will be great to hear from you and boost our numbers as well as talk about the future for racing our cars.

Men in white gowns will be present,to attend the many onlookers who display symptoms of love and adoration to these powerful cars when they start their engines up.
Seriously thou, there should be a good gathering of these awesome race cars, many of them have not been used for years as there has been nowhere for them to race.
The Modified Madness event Sat July 10th and Sunday July 11th,is to be held at the MOD site at Baker Barracks,Thorney Island, members of the HMSA,Historic Modsports and Saloon Association are to have a display area for their members and anyone who owns one of these race cars, all are welcome.
Setting up at the event is on Friday 9th.

The paint looks nice Lee.
Its supprising how many of these HMSA big bad race cars are painted in Black, the Modsports Turner sports car is in a deep taxi Black and a lovelly Special Saloon Capri of Spec R Alloy is in Black, with red and silver graphics.

Are you going to keep to the old original colours Peter Thurston had it in or something fresh.

NICE,
Should look great on the grid.
Later on when you have it running,we should get out and do some testing before we race each other next year.

Lee,you need to drive like Jerry Marshall to tame your beast.
I find racing any car like you have,I grab it by the scruff of its neck and let it dance on ice.

Ah just read your webpage it's a fascinating tale.
I see your dad bought it off Kim Mather originally.
I am local to you and I remember Kim rallying a twin engined VW Scirroco in the early eighties amazing engineering he did and it cleaned up.
I used to help out with a BDA Escort a mates dad rallied at the time - happy days.
