Does any one have any of the above magazines ? I am looking for an Advert for Pennine Motors of Dewsbury Rd Leeds , i am Usumeing ? that they were BMW Main Dealers for the Leeds Area dureing the Early 1970s .
I am looking for an Advert from this Co. for my BMW 3.0 CSL in Polaris Silver, ome of Only 500 Ever built in R.H.Drive . This is the Model that launched BMW Motorsport.
Pennines first registered it in their name in early April 1973 and supplied it to the first Very Wealthy/Lucky Celebrity Owner at a then staggering cost beleived to be £7,200 . This would have bought 2 V-12 E-Types , and more than an Aston V-8 , Interceptor , 911 ,Montreal etc. I beleive as is common in the Motor trade that each Franchised Dealer had to take at least one of the Parent Co.s New models as part of their Franchise agreement.
The Advert may have appeared in Autosport , but i beleive the sadly no longer with us Motor Magazine or Autocar would be the most likely places to find it.
Any help much appreciated.

As a Yorkshire lad I don't remember any BMW dealer in Dewsbury, the only dealer was at Leeds, were they called Scarcroft? The other dealers in the area were Sandal Motors at Wakefield but not until much later, there was a dealer at Bradford but the name escapes me BMW's were not that common back then.

Hi and thanks for your reply , since posting my request a google search has pulled up a Pennine Motors Coach Co. in the Leeds area, but i have been unable to find any info on them. I recognize the Dealers that you mention and it is now looking like there may ? not have been a BMW Dealers called Pennine Motors in the Leeds area. Pennines only had the car for 3 Months from Early April 73 to early July 73 and myself and my friend (the previous owner) had assumed that it was Pennines Demo CSL. I have contacted BMW to see if they can provide the First suplying dealer info.
