Coetzeeh, I notice you are selling your '69 step front. Thats a shame, at least you have the '67 to console yourself with. Is there much work to be done?

Hey Jimmy,

The Veloce was running when I bought it but it was "tatty" at best. Paint work was shiny but underneath there are a few hidden horrors.... I have decided to take it back to bare metal and start from scratch. I am going to build a car (no that should read "having a car built") that may not be 100% original but in keeping with the period look and feel. It will visually look original, but I am plannig to fit my 1600 GTA engine + a few other small tweaks.

I would love to keep the GTJ but I can not justify it. Just the body work + paint on the Veloce will cost close to what I am asking for the GTJ. I do not have deep enough pockets to keep the lot.

The GTJ is not perfect but she is a lovely little car. I'll dig up a few of the Veloce photos and post them here.

The 308GT4 is a Marmite car: but I like it as one of Ferraris finest.

I'd love to go back in time and get Magnum to dive one in the series instead of the GTS

Still wouldn't have happened.

The producers originally wanted to use a Porsche 928 for the show but wanted it to have a larger sunroof for filming purposes. Porsche wouldn't enlarge the sunroof so the producers went to Ferrari who supplied a stock 308 GTS.

The 308 GT4 would have been rejected for the same reason, the sunroof was too small. Besides which, the 308 GT4 just doesn't look as exotic as the GTS, this was the same reason a Porsche 911 was not chosen (no offence to 911 fans smile ).

you don't think that if I had the power to go back in time I might be able to sort out such technicalities?

Given Tom Selleck's height, he wouldnt have been able to shut the door of a GT4 let alone actually drive it (before you say it, yes if you could build a time machine, you could no doubt make a gt4 that anybody over 5'10" was comfortable in!).............another geeky point is that the seat on the GTS's used in Magnum were bolted directly to the floor to give him as much space as possible smile

Don't get Me wrong, I like the 308 GT4 but as I say, it was just not as exotic looking as a GTS, especially back in the early '80s.

BTW, meant to say previously, those Alfa's look fabulous, especially the bumperless one on the end. driving
