My Dad's just scrapped one of these becuase it's ECu went, he couldn't be bothered to get it fixed.

I'd like to know how the seller knows it's only done dry use seeing as it's now 20 years old!!!

Dry use in this country is a near impossibility, I'd suggest it should have only covered 10000 miles if that were the case.

Because they are lovely, I've wanted one since I was about 16.

Why should you not have developed a sense of taste by the age of 33?
I was only 33 when I bought my first Jag, after umming and arghing, I bought an XJ6 but seriously thought about an XJS. I've still got the XJ and love it, but part of me still wishes I'd bought the Celebration XJS vert.

Go on, you know you want one.

Because lad you've just grown up .... A Jag is like a good woman....warm and sensuous..... like a glass of Jameson in cut glass tumbler with the ice gently tinkling.....like a fine Cote de Bourg in a goblet with legs down the side flickering in the firelight,.... 'cos a Jag is ......well......a Jag of course....smile enjoy...

I'm 22 and I would love an old Jag - the one you linked is pretty special, very interesting!!

I'd buy it quick. The problem with driving an old car once you are no longer young is that, in the eyes of many people, you move from being "cooly different and alternative, rejecting the sensible but oh so ordinary modern car" to "bloke who probably talks about spark plug gaps at diner parties".

Had a 3.6 XJS a few years back and loved the old thing. Always take a double take when I see one on the roads, as they really are lovely looking cars.

Do it.

What's being 33 got to do with it? I was 23 when I bought my first one, and the little brother with his 3.6 a few years back was one of the finalists in the JEC's youngest XJS owner/driver quest, at 17.

i was only 25 when i brought a very similar XJS to that one, lovely car best autobox i have ever had in a car and i've had some expensive ones!, just be aware of the electrics inside and outside the car, they finished mine off in the end as i couldn't spend anymore money trying to trace the fault.

saying all that i would love another! oh and obviously fuel just leaks out of the back of the 5.3's

I was in total agreement until you put ice in your Jameson, how can you live with yourself knowing you are watering down such a drink!! wink

It is watered down already. It doesn't come out of the sill at that strength, they take the pure stuff and water it down to suit the taxman.

The heinous sin is not in the watering down. The crime is in cooling it down so you can't taste it properly.

A number of years back I was in the Priory in Bath having a pre dinner tipple. The Maitre d'
came to my order,
"I would like a Lagavulin please"
"And would Sir like any ice with that?"

I just looked at him

"I'm terribly sorry Sir, I do have to ask, we have Americans staying here"

Only whiskey I can drink straight is Jack Daniels, and not in quantity.
I must ask, do you always get the burn even as an old fogey like you lot? hehe

I wouldn't describe it as "burn" but a good Whisky should certainly leave a glow on the way down.
