Hello,

we have just bought a MGB and would like to fit new seat belts so that we can fit a child seat. At present the seat belt is on a kind of a hook, it has to be detached to fold the roof down and then put back on. (Hoping that anyone reading this is more technical minded than I am and understands what I mean.)

Is it possible to put a retractable seat belt into a MGB? How does it work with folding the roof. We have browsed a few websites and it in not really clear how it works.

Thanks.

Yes.

IIRC (its been a few years since I was in the MGOC) the reel fits behind the seat where the belt attaches to the bulkhead.

Another yes

Securon make belts that fit MGBs and there are scads of places that sell them

MGOC shop has them (I am NOT an MGOC member bytheway)

MGBeehive

Moss Europe

in fact google "Securon" and I bet you will get dozens or more options for shopping

Changing to Inertia reel is a good thing in an open topped MG, I fitted Metro rear belts to my Midget for the same reason.

Shop around for the

a: best price
b: nearest shop

whichever

I don't know what the Securon inertia reel seat beats are like but the one that used to be sold for MGBs locked up a lot because of the position of the reel fixing is below your shoulder and the reel is so far extended - worst for passenger

Still worth changing to tho' IMO

+1 for Securon, reel adjusts to be mounted in any position. A doddle to fit I've put them on a Midget and Sunbeam
