hi, well i was wanting to play stuff from a usb stick but could work around with aux in, I didnt think old radios had aux input though?

Edited to add - ahh they didnt, Ive found a US company that will add an 'aux in' to one though.

Surely there is a guy in a shed somewhere in england with a soldering iron and a bit of knowledge?

Adding the aux in wont help the power output though... Im wanting to use modern speakers x4, i dont think old radios had very powerfull amps?

There are companies over here that put modern internals into classic radios. You usually find ads in the classic rags.
It's on my list of things to do at some point for mine.

You could try these guys.

I've never used them but they appear to do what you require.

The Vintage Wireless Company's website has been under construction for years!

Bloody good service though. I had the radio from my '64 Lincoln Continental re-done by them. Very happy with the results.
